Losing settings in Chrome, Firefox, and Opera

A browser issue has caused your ABP settings to be reset.

Because of this, your ABP settings have been reset to default or you are seeing our payment page every time you open your browser. Below are a few steps to resolve this problem. Note that you may need to re-configure your settings, custom filters, and allowlisted websites once you reinstall Adblock Plus, so be sure to copy any custom filters you've created to a text file for safekeeping before you uninstall ABP. You can then add them again after Adblock Plus is reinstalled.

Chrome

Please perform each step in order, restarting your browser after each. Only move to the next step if the problem is still happening.

1) Reinstall Adblock Plus

  1. From the Chrome toolbar, click the Chrome menu icon, hover over More Tools and select Extensions.
    The Extensions tab opens.
  2. Locate Adblock Plus and click Remove.
    A dialog box opens.
  3. Click Remove.
  4. Close the tab.
  5. Open Chrome and go to adblockplus.org.
  6. Click Get Adblock Plus for Chrome.
    A dialog box opens.
  7. Click Add extension.
Our contribution page opens every time ABP is installed. If you don't want to contribute to Adblock Plus at this time or if you've already paid, close the page by clicking the "x" on the tab.

After installing ABP again, be sure to pin it to your toolbar for easy access: How to hide/show icon

2) Change settings on your cookie, disk, or file cleaning program

If you are using an application or extension that is designed to delete some of your browser data, it may be deleting data that Adblock Plus needs to retain settings between browsing sessions. Please pause this program or allowlist Adblock Plus and see if you experience the same issue.

3) Restart your computer.

4) Check for and uninstall any unfamiliar extensions.

5) Check for and remove adware.

6) Test installing Adblock Plus in a new Chrome profile.

7) Reset Chrome's settings.

Programs you install can change your Chrome settings without your knowledge - resetting them will undo any unwanted changes without interfering with your saved bookmarks and passwords.
