In some cases, you may need to "sideload" Adblock Plus to use an older version.
If you are using Chrome Version 124 or lower:
You will need to install an older version compatible with Manifest V2. Here is a direct link to a zipped file of the last supported version: Version 3.25.1 (MV2). You can then skip to Step 2 below.
-
Visit https://gitlab.com/eyeo/adblockplus/downloads (or use the MV2-supported version above if you are on a Chrome version before 124) and locate the zip file for the release of ABP you need.
-
Extract the file to a location you can find easily.
Tip
On Windows, you can extract a file by right-clicking it and choosing "Extract All". On Mac and ChromeOS, you can extract a file by double-clicking it.
-
Type chrome://extensions in the address bar to open Chrome's Extensions page.
-
Enable Developer mode in the upper right corner of the page.
-
Click Load unpacked, browse to the location where you downloaded the file, and select the extracted folder.
-
Click Add extension if Chrome prompts you.
Important
In general, it's not a good idea to install extensions that you get from somewhere other than the Chrome Web Store. Additionally, if you install ABP outside the Chrome Web Store, you will not receive automatic updates when we release them.
