Adblock Plus comes with a set of standard, pre-made filter lists. If you want more control over what you see and what you don't see when you browse the web, you can manually block an element or write your own filters.

Note: Only our desktop extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Opera support custom filters.

Add a custom filter:

1. Click the Adblock Plus toolbar icon. What if I don't see the Adblock Plus icon?
2. Click the gear icon.
3. On the page that opens, go to the Advanced tab.
4. Under MY FILTER LIST, paste your custom filter rule(s) into the box.
5. Click Add.
6. Refresh any tabs or windows that are already open to ensure the change appears.

Remove a custom filter:

1. Click the Adblock Plus toolbar icon. What if I don't see the Adblock Plus icon?
2. Click the gear icon.
3. On the page that opens, go to the Advanced tab.
4. Under MY FILTER LIST, select the custom filter rule(s) you'd like to remove.
5. Click Delete.
6. Refresh any tabs or windows that are already open to ensure the change appears.
